Soaring Sights
Hello all to July’s blog entry! As promised I have a little more to talk about writerly this month, as well as plenty of other adventures along the way. This upload may be brief once again but I hope you enjoy this next instalment of updates!
Let’s begin with what I imagine a lot of you have already seen on my Instagram page. Recently I decided to post (as much as possible) evidence of my writing progress throughout my ‘Summer of Writing’. Although I have not been writing every single day, I make it a point to document all the fun I am having over the summer to look back on and show I had a very productive few months. My aim is to prove writing does not have to be a chore and that your life can fit around it also - whether this be rest days or days out with friends and family. Either way, I hope you are enjoying these posts as I am trying to provide as much variety as possible.
As for my actual writing, I will admit the pace is varied. Some days I will write pages upon pages in my notebook and others I will write a sentence or two. I guess it depends on what other things I have on that day or what tasks are plaguing my mind. Some days I just want to take advantage of the sun and get out, just in the garden or actually out to a scenic, fun or dining venue. That’s the thing with my writing, I work best when I know there is absolutely nothing else needing my attention that day so I can allow my creativity to flow freely. Even then sometimes it takes me a few plays of my favourite mood music to fully get into the swing. Music always helps me though. I can go from feeling uninspired to overwhelmingly charged with writing energy in a track or two. That’s being a writer for you. You just got to work with what you have that day and keep telling yourself you cannot edit what is not written. I aim to push myself a little harder, to try new things to motivate me to write - such as when I woke at 5am to attempt some writing, which worked really well, surprisingly for me. (See below). I will get there. I have plenty of time and plenty of motication once I am in the mood. Slowly but surely, this novella is growing into a text I aspire it to be, with the right messages I hope it can achieve.
I’m also uploading below some of my favourite images from the past month’s adventures. As I always say, life is about spending time with those you love and going to fun places to make memories, not just about writing or books. I hope they serve as whatever inspiration helps you, from seeking sources for writing to future travelling ideas. Either way, enjoy!
That’s where I leave my blog for this week. Be sure to check in next time for more adventures and writing ventures!
Keep well and enjoy the sun!
Emily
